neutral  writeaway: Wow totem poles and powwows. This will please those who want the word powwow removed. Neutral because I have no clue if you are right or wrong. Not really my field and I am only able to translate into English. My bad... /sure. I could try my hand here too

-> Powwows? I only translate into English, but, while I don't string it together into a translation, I do know some French terminology - kind of necessary for translating FR > EN, don't you think?

neutral  polyglot45: and it's called "signalétique" when talking of signage - look up totems de publicité

-> "Totem signalétique" is right too. Isn't it wonderful when there can be more than one way of saying something!

agree  B D Finch: Makes the Holiday Inn and McDo ones look like a load of culturally degenerate, trivial tat; don't you think?!// Sounds like a good reason to retain "powwow", didn't know they wanted to drop it.

-> I just find it funny since someone wants Proz to drop the term powwow because it's a Native American term (used by everyone but oh well....). /"they" don't. One person started the forum
