Medical (general)
Spanish term or phrase: recuperándose
From an autopsy report, it is speaking of the trajectory of the bullet in the brain:

"... saliendo del craneo a ese nivel y quedando alojado en region retro auricular izquierda, recuperandose un proyectil blindado."

was recovered
Explanation:
It's just a way they write these things in Spanish ... looks confusing but it's once you understand it.

So it would be " ... ; an armored object was recovered." (Although I don't know if "armored" is the right word in this context.)

Yes, it's awful spanish, as Judith says ... and I see this form used all the time in medical reports.

"remove" or "retrieve" may be more appropriate translations of the verb ''recuperar" in this context; in this case, I believe that "was removed" or "was retrieved" is the appropriate way to phrase the translation.

Still, now that I check online, I think "recovered" is just as good and may be the standard usage in this context. See these examples from autopsy reports:

"A third gunshot wound found on Kifer's body was on the right side of the neck, ... the rib region next to the spinal column, where a bullet was recovered. ..."

"A man shot himself in the right temple and the bullet was recovered from the brain"

"The bullet was recovered in two pieces from the spine and from the back."

"A bullet was recovered from his body, while police found four .44-caliber shell casings at the crime scene ..."

" The autopsy report said a small-caliber deformed lead bullet was recovered from Sadek's skull."

etc. Lots of examples of the use of the word "recovered" in these reports.

Removing

Explanation:
In this context recuperar means remove. The bullet was removed from the body. Awful Spanish.

neutral  Joseph Tein: Elvira, no se está recuperándo nadie ... se trata de una autopsia ... le dispararon en la cabeza y le recuperaron la bala del cráneo.
