itinerancia

English translation: tour arrangements

Spanish to English translations [PRO]
International Org/Dev/Coop / Budgetary information
Spanish term or phrase: itinerancia
"Gestión e itinerancia por XXXXX de la exposición 'YYYYY'."

Text in Peninsular Spanish is a cost item from a summary of NGO project reports. The travelling exhibition in question consisted of a set of information panels. According to the DRAE, 'itinerancia' doesn't exist, and Wikipedia only has it as the Spanish for the mobile phone "Roaming" service.

I don't think "itinerary" quite fits here, nor "tour costs" (as I don't want to mention costs as that is already the context). I think I might go with "management and tour logistics of the 'YYYYY' exhibition". Unless someone else has a better idea of course...

Target readership are NGO professionals, and British English is preferred. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks to everyone for their help. I think the translation very much depends on the context, and Muriel's suggestion was the best fit for my text. Estela's answer is also a good fit. For what it's worth, I think the source text is a bit of a tautology as 'itinerancia' on its own conveys some idea of management, coordination etc.

Explanation:
You're right that this term normally refers to telephone roaming. Why not put it later in the sentence and say "management by XXX of the YYY travelling exhibition"?

Your suggestion of "management and tour logistics" is OK too, but logistics is management, so it's a bit of a tautology.

display/booth items

Explanation:
based on Charles' discussion post, see either my discussion post above or go to page 13 of:

http://www.girona.cat/shared/admin/docs/d/o/dosier_itineranc...

it seems to be describing the techinical characteristics of the display/booth of the exhibitor at the exposition, what type and how many frames will be available, how to mount photos, how to perform the rental, how to place ads in the promotional catalogue, etc

and some more phrases:

condiciones para la itinerancia de exposiciones (http://www.ccplm.cl/sitio/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/CONDICI...

this would also make sense as a cost item

coordination of travelling exhibition

Explanation:
GESTION E ITINERANCIA: Management and coordination of travelling exhibition

You are right in translating as “travelling exhibition” (consisting of a set of information panels).
