time away for flexitime Explanation: Time off in lieu should not really be related to flexitime (see reference), but this company seems to be happy using it. I would translate the sentence as follows, as the rule is describing how flexitime can be taken in the standard core hours, providing you apply for it in good time. It is not really compensation (like overtime payments) but the adjustment of flexitime hours. Example sentence(s):
