Testo teatrale israeliano. Dialogo tra moglie e marito sulla ritrutturazione della casa. Il marito non vuole, la moglie è favorevole e si sfoga così:

The house has to serve me, not the other way around. Like the car, the computer, the vacuum cleaner, the husband – they serve me, I don’t serve them. They break down – you change them. I’m against repairing things.

La mia proposta:

È la casa che deve servire a me, non il contrario. Come la macchina, il computer, l’aspirapolvere, il marito – loro servono me, non il contrario. Si rompono, tu li cambi.

Cerco soluzioni migliori, soprattutto in considerazione della prima frase in cui viene usato il verbo "serve". Vorrei conservare la ripetizione che c'è nell'originale inglese (mentre in italiano ho tradotto prima "servire a" e poi "servono" senza preposizione.) Grazie!
