I agree that "Deckungsbeitrag" could make sense here. But it seems to be a very specific concept, and given the lack of context, I would rather be broad and vague than specific and wrong.

Was haltet ihr von "Umsatzmarge" statt "Gewinnspanne" hier? Der Satz steht in der Tabelle unter dem Titel "Umsatzziel" (Sales Financial Objective). Vom Gefühl här gefiele mir das noch besser.

Seems to be "Deckungsbeitrag" - to guarantee the salesperson doesn't generate revenue while decreasing the profit margin (due to discounts).

My post was not to imply that all non-ENS links are bad. Here, it was just interesting to see that I couldn't come up with any UK, US, NZ or AU links during a quick search for the term + bonuses, which is why I suspect "commercial margin" has been wrongly applied here.
In addition, "wird ein Ziel gesetzt, das **u.a.** an die Handelsspanne gekoppelt ist" seems to be a wrong translation of the source text. That would mean one of the objectives includes this "commercial margin".
The source text says: "an objective on the commercial margin" - which means one of the objectives is the "commercial margin" achieved. Thus, including "u.a." would not work. That would mean this one objective includes other things besides the commercial margin, something that isn't supported by the source.
Maybe you meant: "wird **u.a.** ein Ziel gesetzt, das an die Handelsspanne gekoppelt ist"?

As for more context - if I had more, I would provide it, but this is (as so often the case in these scenarios) an isolated sentence in a spread sheet full of single words and short phrases. an ENS link?
I'd counsel caution here, as previous exhortations to disregard so-called 'ENS links' have so often been responses to links quoted which were obviously (badly) translated into English. Wherever THESE links come from, we cannot necessarily claim they are not ENS translations, but that's not the point. The danger I see here is that the waters are being clouded unnecessarily. I'd therefore suggest the poster adds my "u.a." to Brigiitte's original suggestion. Fact is, to argue about the difference between "commercial margins" and "profit margins" is to strain at a gnat - there is really so little difference IN THE GIVEN CONTEXT to mean it's a total waste of time. The same applies to arguing about "part of" appearing twice in quick succession in the source text - everyone here has had texts which were carelessly formulated, like this, I'd say. The poster will certainly be able to avoid repetition in German, of that I'm sure.

When you replace "commercial" by "profit" here, it would seem to fit the bill.

Richtig, das "u. a." muss sein. Aber ansonsten ist die Sache für mich überhaupt nicht klar. Was soll das denn bedeuten?
Den Einstands- bzw. den Einkaufspreis kann der Vertriebler nicht beeinflussen. Also gibt es zwei Möglichkeiten: Er kann den Verkaufspreis beeinflussen (z. B. über Rabatte) oder nicht. Im ersteren Fall beeinflusst er damit die Handelsspanne; ist das Ziel an diese gekoppelt, dann wird es dadurch beeinflusst, so geht es also nicht. Im zweiten Fall wäre das Ziel de facto einfach ein Umsatzziel oder auch (wenn es nur ein Produkt gibt) ein Mengenziel.

I'm a bit hesitant because of the term "commercial margin": usually this is translated as "Handelsspanne" but my gut feeling is in favour of "Gewinnspanne" as Bernhard Sulzer already suggested. I admit that I am not prepared to investigate all possible translation options for "commercial margin" without knowing the context. And I am fed up with entering an answer only to have the asker decline it with the comment that it does not fit his/her comment.

I don't really think any amount of extra context here would be helpful at all - it would probably just confuse the issue.
Dem Vertriebsmitarbeiter wird ein Ziel gesetzt, das an die Handelsspanne gekoppelt ist (Erreichen, dass die Handelsspanne nicht unter xxx sinkt (z.B. durch Nicht-Gewährung von Rabatten)?). Das Erreichen dieses Ziel (der Zielerreichungsgrad) wirkt sich auf den Bonus des Mitarbeiters aus. Ob diese Interpretation sinnvoll ist, hängt von der Art des Untrernehmens und der Funktion des Mitarbeiters ab.
Vielleicht enthält das Bonusprogramm/Prämiensystem die Erreichung eines gesetzten Ziels für die kommerzielle Gewinnspanne/marge (wörtlich die Zielsetzung einer Gewinnnspanne/-marge scheint zu schwach - ich denk die muss ja wohl erreicht werden). Bin kein Experte, aber mal ein Vorschlag. :)
