Es geht um eine Betriebsanleitung über Drehmaschinen. Da der Begriff "clamp" viele Bedeutungen hat (und ich bereits in proz.com gesucht habe) möchte ich hierbei um Eure Hilfe bitten.

The work pieces must be clamped firmly and securely onto the lathe before they are machined.
The *clamp* should be tight enough to ensure that the work piece is moved correctly, but not so tight that it is damaged or deformed.

disagree  David Moore (X): This is generally used for what we call a 'chuck', it is a clamp in the widest sense, but it is not what is meant here. If you had ever worked on a lathe, that would be clear (I have).
