Pomosty robocze są zwykle izolowane elektrycznie od konstrukcji nośnej, wysięgnika czy reszty pojazdu przy pomocy izolatorów ceramicznych lub innych. Odstęp izolowanych od siebie części jest zwykle niewielki (rzędu kilkunastu centymetrów), wiec upuszczony przypadkiem odcinek przewodu czy inny metalowy przedmiot może zewrzeć ze sobą te elementy.

Przebicia izolacji nie maja tam miejsca. Do przebicia stosowanych tam izolatorów potrzebne by było napięcie o kilka rzędów wielkości wyższe od występujących.
