here's a better one and as you can see it has nothing to do with sel-evaluation and it's closer to my wild guess of calling into the question the profession and the methods and carry out research on a particular subject

I think the only way to resolve this one is by asking the student what the note covers and go from there

the problem is that it could be a self evaluation note (I hope the note is very high in that case) or it could be a teacher's note about the student's capacity to evaluate their own performance which is not the same thing. Or it could be their capacity to call into question their profession and constructively criticise it. In French it's vague without more information you may have to be vague in English...professional questioning (yuck)

ok I understand the problem then. I thought it was the course itself that you were translating, mea culpa but in my defence the title was "Course at teacher training college" I'll have a think!

is a subject within the 3rd (final) year of a teacher training course
The other subjects are things like:
Introduction to ethics
Introduction to law
Gender equality
First aid

I don't think any of these will help. I am translating a person's marks sheet, which is attached to the Diploma.

there are a multitude of ways of translating the phrase which in itself poses no real translation problem the words are simple and clear. What is not is the context. Professional reflexion professional issues professional questioning...and I could go on... without knowing what the subject is about you can't translate the title

If you think this is a non-pro question, why don't you tell us what you think the answer is?
I'm not sure, but I think it could mean career review, especially since it's in the third (and presumably final) year.
