I think ‘pupil support coordinator’ maybe puts a little too much emphasis on the word ‘pupil’.

The Role of the Pupil Support Coordinator:
To develop, monitor and review school policy and pupil support procedures and ensure consultation takes place with staff, parents and pupils.
To meet regularly with the Pupil Support Team.
To ensure all records relating to individual pupils on staged intervention are up to date, filed and shared with relevant personnel.
To liaise with external agencies and professionals, care and learning team, Central Admissions Group, local authority personnel, parents and pupils in the implementation of school policy and in the interests of individual children.
To chair appropriate meetings and maintain an overview of all pupils at risk.
To oversee in school supports for each pupil, ensuring all possible measures are taken to remove all barriers to inclusion.
Passing on information if a child moves school and supporting the child through this transition.

‘Abstract : In The Netherlands new policy guidelines have resulted in grouping regular and special schools in school clusters, in redistributing the funding of special needs and in appointing a support coordinator in every school. Since the support coordinator, or interne begeleider, is a rather new phenomenon in most schools, data about their roles and tasks were not available. This study attempted to gather such data. The results indicate that support coordinators in The Netherlands are involved in making individual educational programmes, in supporting the class teacher and in coordinating special needs education in their school.
