Bus/Financial - Electronics / Elect Eng / Workplace Health & Safety
French term or phrase: (branché au) duplex
The subject of the document is occupational health and safety; this line item is about the danger of electrocution if water, coffee, or other liquds are spilled on electrical wires on top of the desk/workstation.

"Fils électriques branchés au duplex sur le bureau : danger d'électrocution si..." etc.

This is the only line item in the document with an electrical context, so that's all I can provide.

Is duplex perhaps a power bar?

Thanks for your help!

(plugged into the) desktop outlets
Explanation:
I suspect this is probably one of those double sockets built in to the desk top itself, i.e. at greater risk than if the equipment was merely plugged into a wall socket at a higher level than the desk top (where the spilt coffee is!)

"Receptacle type. Incorporates within one device one or more receptacle outlets protected by the GFCI. Such devices are becoming popular because of their low cost. Most are of the duplex receptacle configuration and can provide GFCI protection for additional non-GFCI type receptacles connected "downstream" from the GFCI unit."

plugged into a two-way socket

Explanation:
This is a bit of a guess, but in terms of health and safety, plugging too many appliances into the same socket would cause some danger.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi Colin, that is a valid safety concern, but in this case, the danger lies specifically with the risk of liquids being spilled and causing electrocution.
