Estoy traduciendo los prospectos de varios medicamentos veterinarios y en el apartado de dosificación aparece:

0.25 ml per 100 kg body weight; sedation, *small operations*.
1.0 ml per 100 kg body weight; *larger operations*.

Mi duda es si es más habitual hablar de «operaciones pequeñas/grandes» o «operaciones de corta/larga duración».
