If you make a piece of music, etc. (all) your own, you make it famous by the way you perform it. E.g.:-
'When Elling makes a song his own, he is performing the song in his own particular style.'
And:-
'Businesses such as Base3 are making HP Latex Technologies their own, creating new profit opportunities in a fast-changing market'.
To make a song/anything else your own is to put your own interpretation on it, to stamp it as yours by singing it in a different way from the original or from what anyone else has performed it. Of a business it means your product is so special that your trade name is the first name that people think of when a product is mentioned.
