I really have very little context I'm afraid, and this may be more a question of local knowledge than of language..
In a series of descriptive passages concerning the town (esp. the architecture) of Saint-Lô is a piece about rue Torteron. At the very end of an otherwise uncomplicated piece is this: "Le Majestic et l'immeuble-pont sont les constructions remarquables." I have been able to ascertain without difficulty that Le Majestic is a cinema, newly renovated, but research, including the street view on Google maps has left me scratching my head about the latter. I imagine it is a building bridging two streets, but I can't find it, and I really don't know how to describe this phenomenon in English. Anybody? Thanks!

There's a picture in my reference below. I suggest "immeuble-pont, a house built over an arch spanning the street". It's a bit like a much smaller version of the Admiralty Arch in London.

  -> Yes, good point. My reference says the ones destroyed in the war were houses, but it's not clear whether this one is (though you could probably find out fairly easily).
