English term or phrase: yaw
Simply put, in our three dimensional world an unrestrained object has the ability to
move two ways:
1 Translation (linear, in a straight line)
These movements include forward vs. backwards, up vs. down, and
right vs. left.
Translational motion changes the position of an object.

2 Rotation (circular motion)
Three types of rotation can occur including yaw, pitch and roll.

In nautical terms the translational movements equate to upwards/downwards being
known as “heave”, forwards/backwards named “surge”, as well as the more familiar
right (starboard) and left (port) called “sway”.

Как это дело называется в русскоязычной морской терминологии?
