Une fois cette matière première disponible, la production s’effectue en trois cycles.

Le premier cycle consiste à préparer la matière première: on lave la laine si elle est reçue « en suint », on procède à l’ouverture des balles par l'aération de la matière avec un batteur, on trie les chiffons par couleur et qualité, on effiloche les morceaux de tissus. Cette base est ensuite teinte puis les fibres sont mélangées en fonction des qualités et coloris choisis pour le tissu final.
On procède au battage de ce mélange, puis à son cardage pour en faire une sorte de **boudin**. Vient ensuite la filature: par étirage et torsion, le **boudin** de carde se transforme en fil solide, qui s’enroule pour former la bobine.

Dando uno sguardo su wijipedia, credo che 'boudin' possa essere tradotto prima con 'assortimento di carde' ( e che 'boudin' si riferisca ai due grossi rulli dentati ) e poi con 'nastro cardato', come è riportato qui:
