| Reference: PLC (Power Line Carrier) Line Trap Reference information: A line trap (high-frequency stopper) is a maintenance-free parallel resonant circuit, mounted inline on high voltage AC transmission power lines to prevent the transmission of high frequency (40 kHz to 1000 kHz) carrier signals of power line communication to unwanted destinations. The inductive reactance of the line trap presents a high reactance to high-frequency signals but a low to mains frequency. The major components of a line trap are: Main coil (air-core dry-type power inductor) Tuning device. Adjust blocking frequency or bandwidth, consist of coils, capacitors and resistors. Self-tuned Line Traps do not require the use of tuning devices.
