No acabo de entender esta expresión y no la encuentro en ninguna parte como modismo. ¿Alguien tiene alguna ayuda? El contexto es que la directora de una escuela en un barrio pobre de Michigan está contándole a un periodista sobre las realidades de la escuela que dirige. Entonces dice:
