I vote for "time out" in the sense of you did not make your selections fast enough for the machine, then it will set default choices and you must confirm these choices before proceeding.
Sound good? But no better than any other without more info :(

It may well mean clicking on a "default" button on a computer screen. However, the use of "assumed" also doesn't seem to make sense, but indicates that it was written by a non-native speaker of English. In that case they might have meant "if you make a mistake" (fault). There is always a problem trying to work out the meaning of gibberish in order to translate it.

Maybe improper use of the word "default"? Perhaps "if you proceed as per the default guidelines " is meant here.

Who are these instructions for: customer or staff member? What came before? Default seems an odd choice, but without knowing the text that led up to it, it's really impossible to say.

At a push, I'd guess that this is talking about entering/supplying data fields of some sort, perhaps on an online order form, but it would be helpful to know if this is in fact the case, or if it's about something completely different!
