Social Sciences - Psychology / Commento Scritti sulla tecnica di Freud
English term or phrase: was going out of his way
Obviously, Freud was going out of his way to emphasize that referring to something
is not the same as being acquainted with it. One thinks of Bertrand Russell’s
distinction (1940) between knowledge of fact, which can be learned
second-hand, and knowledge by acquaintance, which cannot.

Non capisco se l'espressione è usata in senso letterale o traslato.
