Como se trata de strings relativas a um software, encontrei uma frase que pode exemplificar o uso do termo "trimmen" no texto que estou a traduzir:

Já vi a palavra "trimmen" noutros contextos, em que significava "aparar", "ajustar", "compensar", entre outras, mas neste caso não sei se existe um termo específico para a sua utilização no contexto do software de edição de vídeos.
