Nearly agreed with Tony, but this is the correct form of words. If the profile (i.e. length of preformed steel, plastic or whatever) is cut perpendicular to its length, the section would be I-shaped.

Logically what it would usually mean; but I don't know if there's a more specific term when talking about O-rings.

Note that when you build this into your sentence, you'll probably need to turn it round a bit.

agree  Tony M: Actually, you don't need both 'profile' and 'section' — this isn't a steel girder, it's literally the profile of an O-ring — so 'I-section' would also work fine.
