The penalty varies from 0-6dB depending upon the exceedence of the tone above the tone detection threshold. However, the penalty ccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc The Noise Working Group recommends that a tonal penalty is added to the measured noise levels in accordance with the figure below.
