English term or phrase: Heat low
Upon further research you learn that a heat low, often referred to as a thermal low, is actually a fairly common diurnal phenomenon in dry subtropical regions. It can also manifest itself in mid-latitudes in the summer months. In many places such as the Iberian Peninsula, Tasmania, or the central valley of California thermal lows form frequently in the summer months, often when there is a semi-permanent high offshore. A strong sun, clear skies and a semi-arid surface are all requisites for the formation of thermal lows.

The strong heating of the land surface by the sun results in thermals which in turn warm the boundary layer. Thus the lower levels of the atmosphere become less dense. As the air become less dense it expands and this results in an outflow above the region receiving the intense heating. Often this outflow occurs at the 2-3,000m level. The divergence at this level results in a decrease of pressure at the surface. The developing pressure gradient eventually results in a low-level breeze that starts to blow in from cooler regions like an adjacent ocean. Despite the strong sun the surface temperature of a large deep body of water does not change very much over the course of a day.

Explanation:
:) Wikipedia:

Thermal lows, or heat lows, are non-frontal low-pressure areas that occur over the continents in the subtropics such as near the Sonoran Desert, the Mexican plateau, California's Great Central Valley, Sahara, South America over northwest Argentina, Australia, the Iberian peninsula, and Tibetan plateau during the warm season as the result of intense heating when compared to their surrounding environments.[1] Over land, intense, rapid solar heating of the land surface results in heating of the lowest layers of the atmosphere via reradiated energy in the infrared spectrum. The resulting hotter air is less dense than surrounding cooler air. This, combined with the rising of the hot air, results in the formation of a low pressure area. Elevated areas can enhance the strength of the thermal low as they warm more quickly than the atmosphere which surrounds them at the same altitude. Over the water, thermal lows form during the winter when the air overlying the land is colder than the warmer water body. Thermal lows tend to have weak circulations, and can extend to 3,100 metres (10,200 ft) in height. Thermal lows over the western and southern portions of North America, northern Africa, and southeast Asia are strong enough to lead to summer monsoon conditions. Development of thermal lows inland of the coastline lead to the development of sea breezes. Sea breezes combined with rugged topography near the coast can encourage poor air quality.

Notes to answerer
