I just want to be sure that I am correct in assuming that in the following the wife is "pregnant". Or am I reading too much into it? This is from a statement by a man who feels that his family is being threatened by local authorities.

"В настоящее время я опасаюсь за свою семью, так как моя жена находится в положении и ещё маленький сын, которому два с половиной года (2.5 года)."

I think this is a good place for discussing euphemisms for being pregnant. Here is mine.
There are others like she is with child and she is expecting, but the one above is the closest to begin "in the condition."
