whatever some glossaries may say or not, "cash handling" is a very down to earth business - literally handling cash, sometimes by the cubic meter. "gestion de la trésorerie" is partly connected to cash handling, but is a totally different kind of activity, done by completely different kind of professionals. the two are as much connected as planning the traffic flows of a whole city (metro, buses, car traffic, cycle lanes etc) and someone running just a local taxi company. "gestion de la trésorerie" is (should be, at least) done by financial experts, planning cash flows and wisely investing available cash (like in Icelandic banks...) "cash handling" is done by cashiers, counterfeiting experts and security people specialised in cash-in-transit, totally different kettle of fish. Just look for job descriptions in advertisements involving "cash handling" and "gestion de trésorerie".
