Small scale model /or/ work print Explanation: Is this pre- or post- production.?? POST-PRODUCTION "A MAQUETTE (French word for SCALE MODEL, sometimes referred to by the Italian names plastico or modello) is a SMALL SCALE MODEL or rough draft of an unfinished sculpture. An equivalent term is bozzetto, from the Italian word that means "sketch".." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maquette PRE-PRODUCTION If this is pre production, it could have something to do with the graphics used on the film, which are generated by computer: "Definition: A maquette is a physical sculpture of an animation design. The sculpture can be of a character or an object. Maquettes are made using the character or object's model sheet, to make sure that their proportions most closely match those of the 2d drawings. These sculptures are valuable in helping animators determine how to draw aspects of the animation design from various angles." http://animation.about.com/od/glossaryofterms/g/maquette_def... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2013-10-26 14:15:22 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- MAQUETTE - But it does look like English sometimes keeps the term in French: http://www.cel-ebration.com/Kent_Melton_Maquettes.htm http://www.propstore.com/cms/the-prop-store-collection/the-b... http://animationmaquette.tumblr.com/ -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2013-10-26 14:30:00 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- HI ALLEGRA, If you look at some of the websites on line, there seems to be quite a market in selling off the models in auctions, or online etc. eg: Star Trek models (do a search for "auction": http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Galaxy_class_model -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2013-10-26 14:30:56 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- IN my experience film productions always either sell of items or reserve them for future use or other reasons. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2013-10-26 14:34:40 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Why not just use the term "maquette"? It is used in English documents. ""Production-made velociraptor MAQUETTE from Jurassic Park"" http://www.proparchives.com/adventure/adventure-films-1990s/... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2013-10-26 14:41:07 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- But this is post-production. maquette Explanation: I would keep the French word; it seems to be used widely in the movie industry. |
