German term or phrase: Filigranplatte
Under the heading of "Strassenbau", there is a reference to the "Bereiche des Parkhauses, in denen Filigranplatten verlegt sind" - these are the areas where "Stuetzeneinfassungen" are to be produced. I've found a lot of hits for "filigree slabs", but I'm not sure whether this is correct in the context. Help would be much appreciated! :-)

English translation:filigree slab
Explanation:
"A floor slab (also called plate slab or filigree slab) is a reinforced concrete slab with a minimum thickness of 5–6 cm. Depending on the concrete covering and reinforcement, it can be up to 7 cm thick. The floor slab is a semi-precast component that includes the lower floor slab reinforcement that is required for structural reasons."

@asptech:If you want to distinguish between the precast permanent shuttering as opposed to the whole floor slab then you can use the term
"lattice girder plank" see http://www.concreteflooringsystems.co.uk/plate_flooring.htm

Many thanks to everyone for all your help - I eventually chose "filigree slab", simply because it struck me as the safest option. :-)

filigran slab

Explanation:
Filigran slabs are pre-cast slabs with a statically incorporated layer of in situ concrete. (quote from the reference website).

My first answer "waffle slab" (now hidden) is a similar prefabricated concrete structure, but filigran slab seems to fit your requirements better.

I would have to see a picture of what it is to be able to tell which is right.

agree  David Moore (X): I'd say that "Filigran" is a brand name and, as such, must be catitalised.//It still is capitalised on a number of websites, though.

-> Hi David, I had thought of that, too. But it seems to have developed into a generic name over the years

neutral  asptech: A "Filigranplatte" does not constitute a complete slab, only the bottom part with its reinforcement, serving as formwork and to be covered by the rest of the slab concrete.

voided biaxial slabs

Explanation:
A suggestion. There have been many different methods of reducing the weight of concrete. See this ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voided_biaxial_slab

disagree  asptech: There are no voids in a "filigran" slab, the "Filigranplatte" just serves as the permanent formwork.
16 hrs
-> Ok, a little more complicated than I understood it to be.

disagree  Chris Foster: I agree with asptech , the voided biaxial slab (Bubbledeck) is a further development of the filigree deck principle

precast concrete floor formwork

Explanation:
The formwork elements consist of a 40 to 70 mm thick concrete slab that contains the bottom reinforcement for the finished floor, and of lattice beams made up of reinforcement bars, to stiffen the bottom slab and serve as a support for the top reinforcement of the floor slab.

agree  Chris Foster: I agree with your explanation 100% and it is effectively a form of precast formwork, however, "filigree slab" is now a recognised term, albeit that it is not widely used used.
3 hrs
-> The thing is, the word "Filigranplatte" denotes the prefabricated element and not the finished slab.

neutral  Yorkshireman: Good suggestion, but for me, a liitle too broad as a definition, filigran slabs are definitely amongst what you wrote, but so are many other precast elements e.g. waffle slabs.
