no need to go for a literal translation (con i contro coglioni = unchallengeable, unbeatable ) here: the sarcasm would be lost.

I would change translate "un necrologio con i contro coglioni" as "a heartbreaking obituary"

it is quite obvious that if the father pays for one whole page in a newspaper for his son's obituary the son would not be depicted as the idiot who crashed the car into the tree ;-)

Nothing to do with the content of the necrologue per se, but with its "quality".

controcoglioni/controcazzi is simply something laid on as thick as possible. For example I would translate "un amburger con controcoglioni" as "a super-duper hamburgher" / "a hamburgher with everything on it"
Si dice "a stereo con i contro coglioni", "a macchina con i cc", ecc.
