French to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Engineering: Industrial
French term or phrase: poches de transport
I only have a small drawing representing a 3D pipe route and next to it it says:

Les règles de cheminement des tuyauteries eaux noires sont très contraignantes:

Pas de contre-pente
Des poches de transport
Des bouchons de nettoyage
Une colonne montante par WC

There is absolutely nothing on the drawing that could help represent this

Any ideas??

Bonnet and/or transport ladle

Explanation:
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe this is a fitting translation. Cheers

air pockets

Explanation:
la tuyauterie d'aspiration n'est pas étanche ou a une contre pente qui forme une poche d'air.

The suction pipework is not leakproof or has a reverse slope that forms an air pocket.

neutral  Tony M: I thought that too, but it does seem odd to me that all the others on the list are positives, and then this one should be expressed 'the wrong way round'??

-> Maybe it reads; not the first 2 but must have the last 2?

neutral  B D Finch: I don't think so. Sewerage and waste water pipework doesn't run at full bore, so there is always air in the pipework.

transport bags

Explanation:
I wonder whether this should be understood literally as bags to transport dirty pipework in. If the installation is temporary, that might make sense. The reference below (excuse the non-technical language) is about arrangements for camping or caravanning.

drain trap

Explanation:
Reviewing the total context, this says:
"The rules for layout of black water piping (i.e. sink water is grey water, toilet water is black water) are very demanding: no back slope; drain traps (those U shaped pipes under the sink or toilet fixture - these keep sewage gas out of room); cleanouts (i.e. plugs you can unscrew from the pipes in order to use "snakes" to clean the drain); a riser for each toilet (WC) - this is a vent for each toilet - a pipe directly through the roof - the term is "vent" or "riser". This is to equalize the pressure in the plumbing, else you will get gurgles and varying water levels in the toilet! Hope this is helpful. Speaking as an amateur plumber who speaks French, and a graduate engineer.
