Portuguese term or phrase: caixa modernista
O preto e branco contrasta com o verde da paisagem, assim como a forma e as linhas da casa são intencionalmente muito geométricas, criando um diálogo entre a floresta orgânica e a caixa modernista.

Explanation:
A description used in English too, to generally describe modernist design. I don't see any reason not to use the equivalent in English here.

agree  Attreyus: In this case the source material is referring to the linear, strictly non-organic nature of what it's considered a "typical" modernist building. In this case, you could use modernist "box", with quotation marks. I'm an architect.

-> Thanks Attreyus. Though I'm not sure the addition of inverted commas is called for any more in English than in the Portuguese.

modernist "box"

Explanation:
There's a strong nuance of criticism implied when you use "caixa" to define a modernist building. I'm an architect.

-> Maybe. I don't think anyone in the architecture field, be it in portuguese or english, would refer to a building as a box without connotations. For the general public is just the same I believe. Thanks.
