Is "champ pulmonaire" simply a synonym for "poumon" (ie diffuse parenchymal nodular lesions affecting both lungs, with...) or does it mean something else?

On the chest x-ray there are two lung fields - the mostly dark part on each each side of the central, mostly white part, which is the mediastinum.

The "lung field" is not synonymous with "lung" because it includes the lung parenchyma, the bronchial tree and the pleura.
