French term or phrase: champs pulmonaires
"des lésions parenchymateuses diffuses touchant les deux champs pulmonaires avec l'apparition de foyers de condensation également diffus prédominants aux bases..."

Is "champ pulmonaire" simply a synonym for "poumon" (ie diffuse parenchymal nodular lesions affecting both lungs, with...) or does it mean something else?

Thanks for your help!

lung fields or pulmonary fields
Explanation:
On the chest x-ray there are two lung fields - the mostly dark part on each each side of the central, mostly white part, which is the mediastinum.

The "lung field" is not synonymous with "lung" because it includes the lung parenchyma, the bronchial tree and the pleura.

The terms are idiomatic in English.
