This comes from a description of a company which produces innovative software;

"XXX knew that the only way to remain a global leader was to continue to innovate, grow and evolve. YYY continues to follow his lead, while blazing some new trails of its own."

XXX is the founder of the company and YYY is the company name.

So far I've come up with "tout en suivant ses propres pistes". Has anyone got another suggestion, not using 'innover' or 'innovateur' which I'll need to use in the previous sentence?
