"Je kunt gesprekken die binnenkomen op een telefoon van een collega *overnemen* door X in te toetsen en de hoorn op te nemen."

Sorry, folks. I know this is pretty straightforward stuff, but to 'take over calls' doesn't seem right somehow yet my brain's frazzled at the moment. So please help me out with this easy one. TIA. Cheers, R.

Good options, folks, but Natasha's solution, which has this good link to back up her argument, is the best for my context. Thx for the help.

@EdithK: Lucent Technologies in the USA had precisely this option of taking over a call at least 10 years ago on their PBXs. It did depend on enabling a setting, and this sentence sounds as part of the instructions for a particular option. 'Taking over' a call is a good way to say it too. In such a case the person being called does not even need to release the call.

neutral  Edith Kelly: F Scott, I am not that sure about that. It would be the person being called who can transfer and IMO not vice versa but I may be mistaken.

take over a call

Explanation:
Taking over a call involves a transfer, in this case a transfer done by the person taking over. Allowing such take-overs usually involves enabling this option before that particular extension is allowed to do so.

This taking over can even be done while the original extension is still ringing.
