French term or phrase: douche baveuse
The whole para (for once).

I can do the other two (pluie and percutante) but am all out of inspiration for the dribbling shower ... any help welcome.

neutral  AllegroTrans: a shower that sedates sounds very extreme; something tells me that "sedative" might mean something more like "relaxing"
19 mins
-> I explained that sedation is due to the water jet being diffuser and softer than that of other shower baths.

neutral  philgoddard: This doesn't really help, because you're saying a shower that has a sedative effect is called a sedative shower.

disagree  Lara Barnett: I would not use this term to describe a shower, unless that was its officially branded name. It sounds a bit too medical to be just therapeutic.

(ultra) calming hydrotherapy treatment

Explanation:
Sleep-inducing would be better than 'sedative' in English. Also, I'd prefer to say relaxing, but that has already been used.

Explanation:
After much deep and profound brain things inside my head ... I am offering you this lovely answer :-)

I also like Josephine's use of the word "massage". You could then have a "soft rain massage", "jet (or jet stream!) massage" and then "waterfall massage".

http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=N_48Xg_eFaAC&q="douche ba...

Rational Hydrotherapy, Volume 1 By John Harvey Kellogg
THE FAN DOUCHE.
This consists of a horizontal jet from a nozzle of such form that the water issues in a broad, thin stream (Fig. 45). The friction at the narrow orifice through which the water is projected greatly diminishes the pressure.
The physiological effects of the fan douche are essentially the same as those of other forms of the douche, but less intense than the full jet, or the rain or spray douche.
