here is a description of svěřený předmět a svěřené hodnoty, since this person had the authority to sign payments

• Tato dohoda může být uzavřena pouze, pokud jsou zaměstnanci svěřeny hotovost, ceniny, zboží, zásoby materiálů či jiné hodnoty, které jsou předmětem oběhu. Tj. nemůže být uzavřena např. na vybavení kanceláře nebo na pracovní nástroje či pomůcky (zde je možno uzavřít dohodo o odpovědnosti za svěřené předměty)
• Druhou podmínkou pro uzavření je, že zaměstnanec může se svěřenými hodnotami disponovat po celou dobu, co jsou mu svěřeny, a má umožněno je na pracovišti uschovat v uzamykatelném prostoru a nikdo jiný k nim nemá přístup (s výjimkou těch, se kterými má uzavřenu společnou hmotnou odpovědnost).
• Tento typ smlouvy umožňuje uzavřít společnou hmotnou odpovědnost více osob. Za případný schodek odpovídají poté zaměstnanci podle ustanovení § 260 ZP.

It is a broad term and it is used in contracts, more in the USA than in the UK, I think.

Zákoník práce přeložený do angličtiny má things of value nebo entrusted things, and I think it is because even though these are his assets, or his property, he has to supply them in order to have the employee do his work, so they are, nevertheless, depreciating. To stay away from real estate lingo and banking lingo, and , IMO quite correctly, they came up with this
Section 252
(1) Where a liability agreement („dohoda o odpovědnosti“) has been concluded with a certain
employee and, under this agreement, the employee is liable for the protection of things of
value which have been entrusted to him and are subject to accounting (where these things of
value include cash, stamps, goods, materials in stock and other items being the subject of
turnover or circulation) and which the employee may handle for the entire period while he is
accountable for them, he shall be liable for any shortfall in such things if the shortfall occurs.
(2) The liability agreement (material responsibility agreement) may first be concluded with
a natural person (an individual) when he or she is 18 years old.
