Would that mean sound sleep or a sleep that it not interrupted by palpitations or urination or anything else?

light sleep

Explanation:
As a patient with occasional sleep problems, I am aware of "Flachschlaf" and "Tiefschlaf" equivalent to light sleep and deep sleep, which are different phases of brain activity throughout the "sleep" process.

Sleeping flat on his/her back will cause fluid to collect in the lungs (lung edema). Therefore patients are sleeping in a sitting or semi sitting position with raised upper body.
