In more modern writing, it should be written separately like in the title of this post, or with a zero-width space بهاصطلاح. It shows or emphasizes that this بار was specifically used for آبگوشت and such foods, like a collocation. I think the pronunciation becomes clear when it's written separately, /be estelah/.
Yes, I think I was influenced by Ahmet, the Turkish form, which indeed becomes Ahmed before any vowel, so "Ahmed'e", "to Ahmet" etc.
The E is there because many dialects of Arabic spoken in the former Ottoman Empire pronounce the Arabic A as E (more or less), except in the case of the emphatic letters (ص ض ط ظ) and a few others.
You are welcome. I've noticed that my name is pronounced as Ahmed in Turkey, and I think as a result most westerners also pronounce it with /e/ instead of /a/, because these Arabic names first traveled to west through Turkey (or the Ottoman Empire).
The correct form of the Persian should be بار گذاشتن. Moreover, the meaning of بار seems to be closest to this which I quote from Loghatnameh: غله و جز آن . آنچه در دیگ ریزند از حبوب و بُقول و گوشت و جز آن پختن را. مظروف دیگی . مظروف ظرفی . هر چیز که آنرا خورند. Many thanks – what is the force of بار here? The one-volume Āryānpur Progressive Persian-English Dictionary gives an array of meanings: load, truckload…; burden, brunt, weight…; fruit, yield crop; the white coating on the tongue, fur; charge; time, occasion…; audience..., levee; bar, tavern….
My personal favourite would be “fruit”, as one has to wait for the dish to “mature”, but what do you think?
