dropline Explanation: Could be a dropline: "A dropline is a commercial fishing device, consisting of a long fishing line set vertically down into the water, with a series of fishing hooks attached to snoods. Droplines may be set either down underwater cliffs or just in the water column. They have a weight at the bottom of the line and a float at the top. They are not usually as long as longlines and have fewer hooks." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dropline -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 10 hrs (2013-03-19 17:25:42 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- longlining (as opposed here to Sleppangel, trolling) may the be best term, especially in the (possible) context of tuna fishing; longlining is used by commercial tuna fleets in Croatia: http://www.fao.org/fishery/fishtech/1010/en |
