French term or phrase: règle a quo
La partie de Maître X fait grief au jugement du tribunal d’arrondissement du [date] d’avoir accueilli la demande de la société YYY, alors que selon elle, cette demande serait irrecevable en raison de l’adage «Nul ne plaide par procureur».

Il échet de relever que la partie adverse invoque ladite règle à mauvais escient.

La **règle a quo** se contente d’imposer que le représenté soit nommé dans les actes de la procédure .

I know this is Latin and not French, and I have heard of a 'court a quo' - but am not getting the sense in which this term is being used in the sentence above. I know that, depending on the context, it can mean 'from which' ... which can't fit here. I am wanting to translate this sentence with something along the lines of:

The rule merely requires that the party represented be name in the procedural and litigation
documents

but would this be missing some vital sense of a quo? Any Latin/French wisdom out there?
