This appears to be a standard FR term in the context of fire hazard protection.
I just can't find the EN equivalent ....

Definition: on entend par " volume technique protégé " un local ou un placard dont le volume est protégé d'un incendie extérieur de telle manière que les matériels qu'il contient puissent continuer à assurer leur service pendant un temps déterminé.

One would perhaps tend in England tend to use "fire rated" or with a fire rating of X, in order to be more specific about the length of time integrity can be preserved in the event of fire.

Asker: Thank you for the prompt response - this seems to suit my purpose (which includes delivering my translation urgently, this term being the only thing holding up delivery!). I will wait the usual 24 hours before choosing an answer, but your suggestion convinces me."Fire rated" rather than "fire resistant", I think.
