That explains everything then! In many languages, as in the FR 'montage', there is a notion of 'up' that is literally found in 'to erect' (as in 'to put up / erect a greenhouse / tent'), but which is out of place in the general run of EN without special connotations, as more appropriately rendered by, for example, 'to set up', 'install', etc. A real communication minefield if non-native speakers are in the chain!

At first sight, 'instrumentation' doesn't really seem to fit with 'erection' — in EN, 'erection' is normally associated with a quite restricted range of things, which are usually some kind of structure...

So is there something specific we need to know about your context here that would explain the application of 'erection' to 'instrumentation'? Or do we need to start speculating that maybe the EN wasn't written by a native speaker? Do you have any other clues to that effect elsewhere in your text?
