Social Sciences - Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc. / study on fatalism
Portuguese term or phrase: clínica
This is from one of the last paragraphs of a study on fatalism. Not sure of the sense of 'clínica' here - does it refer to medicine? Translation to US English. Thanks for your help!

A libertação e o fatalismo

clinic

Explanation:
I believe it is indeed related to a medical clinic. I read some articles like the one linked below, that say how Frantz Fanon's experience as a psychiatrist was crucial for him to explain his stands on Sociology and activism.

In the final sentence on the excerpt you posted, the author reinforces this idea mentioning the "liberation of human consciousness through psychoanalysis".

practice/experience

Explanation:
Sociology is not something I understand, or care to understand, but clinica is a synonym of prática -> Clínica: Conjunto de práticas (ou de pessoas que as aplicam) destinadas a observar, corrigir e aprimorar o desempenho de determinada atividade específica ou propiciar a aquisição de certas técnicas ou habilidades. guided psychological transformation

Explanation:
therapeutic process
psychoanalytic process
clinical therapy

I think it depends if Fanon is talking only about professionally done therapy (which is what the word "clinic" implies to me) or any kind of therapeutic process.

In the more general sense, just "psychological transformation" would work. Obviously if it is "guided," it's implied there's a professional involved.
