philgoddard: Maybe, but what does this mean, and how do we know that prélevée means sampled?

-> One dictionary definit. of "préléver" is "to sample", i.e. to take a representative part of a whole. It makes sense here as taking a representative sample of pixels to reproduce the image, losing detail to get smaller format & file size.

MatthewLaSon: It's not that complicated. The French word for "resampled" is "réechantillonnée" in editing - plain and simple. "Prélevée" means "to remove" here. It's not a technical word. I can never be 100% sure about anything, but enough here to disagree. Good night.

Hello,

I was thinking that "prélevée" meant "taken" (prise) as you'll often see "image/photo prélevée sur un site web". But here, it seems to mean "removed" (taken out of), even though there is no "de" following it (confused me).

ERROR: "to take from/out of" is not "prélevée DE" (typo) - I meant that there was no preposition at all, which confused me. It's just like the verb "prendre sur/dans" here ("taken out of" = removed).

You can say "prélevée de l'argent SUR un compte" ("de" would not be a preposition here)
