disagree  Lene Johansen: Reading glasses usually have a positive prescription, prescription for near sighted people are negative.

  -> It has nothing to do with "near sighted"!

agree  Nils Andersson: That depends on the specific vision problems of the wearer. I would go with Google - when massively outvoted I yield to Google

Concave progressive

Explanation:
If närprogressiva is to be interpreted as progessive lenses with a negative prescription, then the lens used to correct near sightedness is a concave lens. Progressive is progressive in either language.

disagree  Nils Andersson: For a slightly diffent reason. The gllasses could be concave or convex, depending on the details of the wearer's vision problems. Or both, since "progressive" implies that the focal width (and thus the concavity/convexity) varies over the lens.

Progressive computer glasses

Explanation:
Computer glasses/lenses is the expression I am familiar with and this is how the progressive variation is described at http://www.allaboutvision.com/cvs/computer_glasses.htm
[A] popular lens design for computer glasses is the occupational progressive lens — a no-line multifocal that corrects near, intermediate, and, up to a point, distance vision. It has a larger intermediate zone than regular progressive lenses for more comfortable vision at the computer. But this leaves less lens area for distance vision. So these lenses are not recommended for driving or other significant distance vision tasks.

Just a thought - if you would like a stand-alone the expression used in the text cited above - occupational progressive lens - might be a good choice.

Example sentence(s):
  • There are two types of progressive computer lenses: those prescribed for computer use for older adults who are presbyopic and those prescribed for younger adults who are not.
  • Though they sometimes are called "computer reading glasses," it's best to call eyewear designed specifically for computer use "computer glasses" or "computer eyeglasses" to distinguish them from conventional reading glasses.
