Could be a place name. Explanation: daa = dó means *to*, here as a qualifier. loo here would indicate the direction. Please provide more context. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2003-08-09 07:06:33 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- The sound is ok, you just transcribe the sound into English spelling, so more context. |

talú = ground Explanation: If the word is talú (pronounced tah-loo) then it is a declension of the word talamh, meaning ground or floor. Again, as Edith said, more context is needed if any real sense is to be made of the word... |

Daaloo Explanation: If you're unsure of what language the word is actually in then it could literally be a host of different languages ... it could only be Irish if it sounds like daaloo, not if it's actually spellt that way ... it may be Somalian as mentioned above. I found info on the company: SARL Daaloo - article in French (http://www.gouv-exil.org/22_realite/real0010_1.htm) but I reckon it's either a variation or incorrect spelling of Daallo airlines, Djibouti (http://www.daallo.com/). Click the links to view the info I found. The word comes up several times when you look for it using a search engine, but I can't find one single explanation. Assuming that it could actually be Somalian, can you post another language search for it in Proz.com? |

daaloo Explanation: This does not sound Irish. It seems to be Somali, but I have no idea what it means. It can be found on the net. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 13 hrs 35 mins (2003-08-09 09:28:01 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I can only find Daaloo airlines on the net, they fly from Africa, mainly Mogadisho. I found a name of song Daaloo, the singer seems to be from Somalia. This is why I judge it could be Somali. I cannot speak Irish, I only know, how it sounds and I know a couple of words. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 17 hrs 20 mins (2003-08-09 13:12:23 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I have found www pages with Somalian pop singer Hibo Nuuro http://www.somaliasite.com/artist/music/hibo/2.htm One of her popular songs is Daaloo. There are more hints on the net. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 17 hrs 39 mins (2003-08-09 13:31:58 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- See http//www:insultmonger.com It might be Urdu, the whole sentence is an insult. But I still do not know what it means. |
