el ser humano típico Explanation: Here median isn't being used in a mathematical sense - it just refers to the human norm. |

“mediana calculada por seres humanos” or “mediana humana” Explanation: Hello Nazaret: You ask for the translation of “human median” in a context that you compare the capabilities of a machine to calculate the “median” with the capabilities of the human beings to make the same calculation. ANALYSIS This is a concept related with a special chapter of mathematics and statistics. It is part of the probability theory. It is a special value that in English is defined as “median” and in Spanish as “mediana”. I would like to share with you the explanation that Wikipedia (English) gives about “median”, and Wikipedia (Español) about “mediana”. English term: “median” In statistics and probability theory, median is described as the numerical value separating the higher half of a sample, a population, or a probability distribution, from the lower half. The median of a finite list of numbers can be found by arranging all the observations from lowest value to highest value and picking the middle one. If there is an even number of observations, then there is no single middle value; the median is then usually defined to be the mean of the two middle values.” URL: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mediana_(estadística) In both explanations we see that is a value that comes from a series of observations. And we know that in the current state of art of technology, today the machines can achieve to more accurate results than the human beings. After this analysis, if we are really translating a text related with mathematics in connection with the calculations that the machines (computers) can make, my idea is we have to use in Spanish the correct translation of “median” that is “mediana”. Also if you browse the list of functions oft Excel (MS-OFFICE), you will find the “median” is a specific function in the set of statistical functions. MY PROPOSAL - “mediana calculada por seres humanos” or “mediana humana” (I prefer the first translation to avoid a misunderstanding.) I hope this analysis helps you in your work.
