French term or phrase: Gaines de désenfumage Vh-VB
Description of a residential building to be constructed.

"6-7-5 GAINES DE DESENFUMAGE VH - VB

 Le voile du palier passe devant la gaine
 L’emprise des VH et VB en plan est de 64 x 76 cm en saillie dans le logement, les cotes intègrent une isolation calibel de 7 cm d’épaisseur."

VH and VB probably means « ventilation haute » and « ventilation basse » but despite my google research i did not find any satisfactory translation…

high and low level smoke extract ducts
Explanation:
English is more likely to use the full term high and low level although HL and LL would certainly be understood in this context.

neutral  Tony M: Not at all sure where you're getting that 'pressure' from, but I'm far from convinced it's appropriate here. Also, more likely 'extract' — though I think a different word is used for 'désenfumage'.

Explanation:
English is more likely to use the full term high and low level although HL and LL would certainly be understood in this context.

Example sentence(s):
  • Mechanical ventilation must provide six air-changes per hour in normal conditions and ten in the event of a fire. Extract points must be arranged so that 50% are at high level and the remainder at low level (Approved Document B, Fire Safety, B3 Section 11
  • The exhaust ductwork system to have extract grilles – 50% at high level and 50% at low level.
