Tourism & Travel / Walking itinerary
French term or phrase: Insolite
I am translating a set of directions for walks around Paris which take you to visit various art attractions (museums, houses, monuments etc), and I am looking for a good translation of 'insolite' in the title phrase:

"Parcours Artistique Insolite"

I thought of 'unique art walks' or 'remarkable art walks' but I don't think that is quite right. Can someone suggest a better translation please?

Thanks, this one fits best with the tone of the text and includes the whole "our product is unique - pick us" side of 'insolite'. Thanks to all the other suggestions too - I've made a note of most of them for next time!

unsung

Explanation:
As I said in the discussion, the 'insolite' feel much more natural when applied to the sights rather than the walk.

undiscovered

Explanation:
Undiscovered is a concise way to explain that the sites are off the beaten path. It also has a positive connotation, implying a better choice than the common sites.

Example sentence(s):
  • undiscovered art walks

Alternative/unusual (walks)

Explanation:
"Alternative" is the word commonly used for activities etc that are not so
frequented or provide a different view point to the more traditional/classic sort.
I provide quite a simple alternative also, which I would consider using too.
Examples of usage of both of these below:

"30th July - Buzz Hour! ALTERNATIVE ART WALK
...
This UNUSUAL WALK will lead you through and around Arty Bankside. You will discover the thriving artistic communities and works of art that bring the area to life! Expect to visit Bankside's famous and the not so famous corners and prepare to look at the area in a very different light, from a different perspective and in perfect composition!"

An alternative walk or tour usually refers to a walk or tour that reaches the places that are "off the beaten track". It is not strictly a term reserved for art, as suggested by comment made below:
"http://www.timeout.com/london/around-town/event/235931/the-a...

Example sentence(s):
  • "Welcome travellers, We are the creators of the Alternative tour concept in Berlin. We show you the unusual places and people you might not discover by yourself. "
  • "Unusual Walks - There are the museums and monuments that have given Paris its worldwide reputation."

neutral  Sheila Wilson: It depends whether the places on this walk feature "alternative art". If they do, it's perfect! If they just feature unknown artists, then it's misleading

  -> I am not talking about alternative art. The asker has confirmed in discussion box that places are "off the beaten track", which is what my suggested adjectives refer to - as per my examples.//"smaller museums you would never see on a bus tour" [Asker]
