Italian term or phrase: Istituto di istruzione superiore
How would you translate " Istituto di istruzione superiore: istituto professionale per i servizi commerciali e turistici" in English? Is part of a diploma.

Thanks!

Senior high school
Explanation:
You could qualify it with "Technical senior high school specialising in... "
There are no near equivalents in the UK or US (which would mislead if used) so you need something which gets the age group and describes it a bit.

This is secondary education after la media and before university, so it is not primary and it is not "tertiary" or higher education, but upper secondary, where the "media" is lower secondary.

Just one example of thousands.

neutral  James (Jim) Davis: I think most people would consider university as higher education, while you start an istituto di istruzione superiore at the age of 13 or 14 so it is partly compulsory schooling.

Explanation:
Direi così.

considerando che, vista la grande diversità dei sistemi di istruzione nella Comunità, la definizione del termine «istituto di istruzione superiore» utilizzata nella presente raccomandazione comprende tutti i tipi di istituti che conferiscono qualifiche o titoli di tale livello, indipendentemente dalla loro denominazione negli Stati membri;

Whereas, in view of the great diversity of education systems in the Community, the definition of the term 'higher education institution` to which the recommendation refers includes all the types of institutions which confer qualifications or degrees at this level irrespective of how they are described in the Member States;

  -> It would have to be a fourth fifth and lower, middel and upper sixth form college Linda. This is just normal *mainstream" upper secondary schooling.

I like Jim´s suggestion too, you don´t need to overdo with higher and college since until a few years ago with such a diploma you couldn´t even get access to university.

  -> thank you Jim, then just drop the II Grade, I just noticed it is redundant anyway, Secondary Education should be enough
